Environmental Science

OVERVIEW

Department of Environmental Science has been set up under the Faculty of Life Science and Technology. The department is interdisciplinary & shares its knowledge & facilities with other departments of the university since the beginning. Later the department introduced major courses i.e., M.Sc (Environment Science), Ph.D, B.Sc. (Hons.) Environment Science. Later the department launched PG Diploma in Safety, Health & Environment (PGDSHE), PG diploma in Environment Pollution Management (PGDEPM) and two certificate courses namely Certificate in Waste Management and Biomedical Waste Management with the vision of generating efficient problem-solving ability within students. The department is installed with modern facilities for pursuing research in various field of environmental science. Environmental Science Department encourages the sustainable management, protection restoration of natural resources & also carries leading researches in the field of environmental biotechnology, biodiversity, agro waste management, mushroom production culture, EIA, EHS, air & water pollution analysis & other relevant environmental aspects addressing major challenges facing our planet.

MISSION

The mission of the Department of Environmental Sciences is to contribute efforts and solution for sound environment management and sustainable development through quality education, vast practical analysis and training exposure. We are keen to create better minds for solving global challenges in supplies of natural resources, mitigation of natural hazards, protection of the environment biodiversity conservation and public awareness.

The department endeavours to build unity and excellent minds in respect with nature and biodiversity conservation by the Indian Constitution and UN vision. We nourish future environmental leaders to create a sustainable society that embodies respect and care for the
society, nature and biodiversity as a part of our social responsibilities. This vision inspires us to achieve excellence in innovative and transformative research in our doctoral and master’s programs.

Students Activities and Achievement:

  1. Mr Ankit Pandey (M.Sc, Environment Science), leaded the Youth delegate for India – Azerbaijan Youth Dialogue 2018 at Embassy of Azerbaijan New Delhi.
  2. Mr Ankit Pandey and Chakradhar Pandey (M.Sc, Environment Science), Participated in 5th INDIA WATER WEEK 2017 organized by Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.
  3. Mr Ankit Pandey (M.Sc, Environment Science), Participated in heritage conservation project of UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE VOLUNTEER 2017 under the elixir foundation Patan Gujarat.
  4. Mr Ankit Pandey Participated in International Heritage Model United Nation Patan chapter which is integral part of UNESCO’S lets heritage program WHV 2017 and represented Narendra Modi prime minister of India at Patan Gujarat.
  5. Chakradhar Pandey (M.Sc, Environment Science), participated in ALL INDIA INTER-UNIVERSITY GAMES as a Team Caption at KIIT University, Bhubaneshwar (Odisha).

Apart from academics, Environmental Science department often organizes different environmental awareness programmes, biodiversity conservation, resources utilization and sustainability, disaster mitigation and management programme, huge plantation within the university campus and outside the campus in association with different Govt. departments and NGOs.
