The Faculty of Engineering & Technology at AKS University, Satna has been successful in establishing itself in this part of India as a leading research and academic group, even though it represents a relatively young academic discipline. This is confirmed by the regular interaction with the industry, academia and research establishments. In the field of all engineering disciplines, our group is closely associated with, in areas related to our core competence.
We are also pleased to report that intake into our various B.Tech and Diploma level programs, has students from all over the country. Commencing the courses in 2012-13, today we have completed four successful academic sessions, with our students marching towards their 8th semester at the end of June 2016.The second batch of Diploma students are going to pass out at the end of June 2016.
Faculty of Engineering and Technology has disciplines comprising various branches like Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Cement Technology, Food Technology, Agriculture Engg., Computer Science & Mining engineering which is primarily statutory and applied in nature draws strength from core branches and support from IT, Environmental Sciences etc.
Cement technology at AKS University is the first of its kind in the country in B.Tech. level. These courses are of day to day importance and relevance to the industry and social needs. Efforts are being made to continually upgrade curriculum to incorporate emerging technologies and latest pedagogical methods to maximize learning through-out. India is the second largest cement producing nation in the world, producing approximate 270 million tons and China has capacity of 2000 million tons. Satna is situated in one of the largest limestone clusters of the country and contributing 8-9% to total production of Cement in India. Ten large capacity cement plants are presently operating in and around Satna and equal number of cement plants are expected to be installed in near future.
According to recent surveys, the cement industry is expected to grow at a rapid pace over the next few years to cater the growing infrastructure and real estate projects. As a result, there will be more employment in all these sectors.

The programme covers semester wise study involving lecture and laboratory courses. The curriculum includes courses in Machine design & drawing, Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Materials Science, Strength of material, Manufacturing Sciences as well as others applied ones like Theory of Machines, Machine Design, Refrigeration & Air conditioning, CAD, CAM, etc. Students are also made to undergo industrial training as well as projects to supplement the theoretical and practical knowledge gained during classes with live engineering problems.
The department has well equipped laboratories. Students are exposed to some of the latest equipments namely Turbines, milling , lathe, TIG welding, MIG welding, Universal testing machine, Hardness Testing, Torsion Testing, Impact Testing machines etc. The department has a state of the art CAD lab having 90 high end computers with packages like AUTO-CAD and Pro-E.
Expert lectures are regularly arranged by the people of international and national repute. Regular industrial visits are also arranged for the students. The students of the department are also encouraged for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and have brought laurels at the various national level competitions.
Mechanical Engineering Department is blessed with faculties mostly from IITs and NITs. The Department is headed by Dr. Pankaj Kumar Shrivastava. Dr. Shrivastava received his Ph.D. and M.Tech from prestigious IIT Delhi. His several research papers on various topics are published on incredible, frequently referred International and National Journals and Conference Proceedings. He has a vast experience in the field of variety of industries including defense and cement manufacturing. Apart from this he has a significant experience of about 11 years in the field of academics serving at various Institutes in India. His area of interest is electrical discharge machining, non-conventional machining processes, design of experiment applications in manufacturing processes and applications of artificial intelligence in advanced machining processes.

Project work/Research Contribution
- Project entitled “Modeling and optimization of electrical discharge surface grinding of advanced materials” worth 41.25 Lakh is under process.
In whole of MP, AKS University, is first to start B.Tech level program in Mining Engineering. The Mining engineers passing Diploma and B.Tech are finding jobs in various mines in statutory capacities. They also get absorbed in non-statutory jobs in mines and allied segments. With a very updated course structure, we are geared up to extend state-of-the-art teaching together with frequent visits of our students to Coal and other mines.

Mine Gas Testing Examination Centre
Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) had accorded approval to AKS University to conduct Gas Handling examinations and Gas Testing Examinations. In underground Coal Mines, mine gases are a source of accident and have detrimental effect on the health of miners and all officials. Every Diploma and Degree level students, need to pass ‘Gas Testing Examination being conducted by DGMS).
In the areas of student-faculty-and industry/mines interaction, in all these years several visits by our students to industries and mines. Visits were undertaken to various industries located in and around Satna-Katni region.
Besides, our B.Tech(Mining) students have visited International Mining Machinery Exhibition and Conference held at Kolkata and organized by MGMI during 13-17th Feb. 2014. In 2014, also our students visited the 12th International Mining & Machinery Exhibition 3 - 6 December 2014, at Kolkata. This group also visited Underground mines of Uranium Corporation of India Ltd.in Jharkhand. Our students have visited the only underground Gold Mine of the country at Hutti in Karnataka and one of the most modern limestone mines of Aditya Birla Group – Rajashree Cement Limestone Mine in Gulbarga District of Karnataka.

Faculty of Engineering &Technology, had drawn a well structured training program for the students of Diploma and Degree streams, during the semester break of 2nd , 4th , & 6th semester. Organisations like subsidiaries of Coal India Ltd (SECL, MCL, WCL & ECL), SAIL(IISCO Collieries), SAIL(Kuteswar), Tata Steel (Sukinda), JSPL (Tensa Mines), UCIL, NMDC Ltd, MOIL Ltd, Cement plants (like Satna Cements, Prism, JP Cement, Bhilai JP-Babupur, Maihar Cement, Manikgarh Cement, RAMCO Cement, Ultra Tech Cement-Chandrapur & Ariyaluru etc) were approached to extend training facilities.
